There is a lot of research that suggests that travel, spending extended time in nature, and the foot-to-earth rhythm of a long trek all have a unique effect on us physically, mentally and spiritually. And when we are stuck in the day-to-day experiences of our lives, it can be tough – sometimes it seems near impossible – to gain the broader perspective and deeper insights that move you through change, hardships and life. And the cherry on top? The benefits of both a professional curated trip and an expert coaching experience – two usually standalone experiences – brought together for maximum growth to benefit you.

Most treks focus solely on the physical journey. Wild insights weaves together three transformational elements: sensory immersion in the Himalayas, structured and personalized coaching, and intentional community. The landscape is awe-inspiring, but the coaching experience on both ends of the trip, the focus on presence during the trip, and the camaraderie with the community trekking alongside you are what helps carry the experience forward into your life.

Welcome! If this is a challenge, that’s great – that’s going to make it all that more rewarding! While training is your responsibility, we’ll help you prepare with a suggested training plan and lots of information on what to pack. Also – although we’re trekking, we aren’t backpacking – we’ll have local porters, so all you’ll carry during the trek is your day pack. We will stay in teahouses in mountain villages along the way so no sleeping on the hard, cold ground. Allie, your coach, has decades of international travel experience, including this trek, and we’ll have a professional, local woman guide the whole way, so you’ll be in really good hands the whole time.

We run this trek in April and October for a reason. In April, the rhododendrons are in bloom, the days are longer, and the weather is perfect for walking and for soaking in the mountain views without layers upon layers. October comes just after the summer monsoon season, when the skies clear to their sharpest blues and the mountains are at their most dramatic. Both windows avoid the extremes of heat, cold, and heavy rains, giving you the best mix of comfortable trekking conditions, vibrant landscapes, and stunning visibility.

Most days on the trail begin with movement – we’ll have 4 different sunrise hikes, each to a different stunning summit between 10,000 to 12,000 feet, including one where you can take your turn on a swing at the top of the world – followed by hot, hearty breakfast teahouse breakfast and a trek to our next teahouse. Afternoons and evenings are restorative downtime - read, nap, journal, sip tea by the central fire stove, or play cards with new friends. Evening meals are prepared for you in village teahouses, there are opportunities to immerse yourself in local culture along the way, and ample opportunity to be fully present to enjoy the stunning flora and fauna all around you (bring your binoculars and cameras). Please see some of the details on this page. Let us know about your interest in the experience here, and in turn, we’ll share a detailed itinerary.

We’ve designed this program to be comparable to what you’d pay for a small, curated adventure trip like Backroads or Revel11, with the added value of a personalized coaching program. Please see this page for the full details.

You should be comfortable hiking up to 5–8 hours and 6-10 miles a day with breaks – with lesser distances at the beginning and end of the whole trek. We’ll be hiking at higher altitudes, but with training you’ll be prepared. There is no technical climbing involved (this isn’t Everest), but it will be a physical challenge. You will carry just your daypack; porters carry the rest. We will be traveling with an experienced local guide. Reach out if you want to discuss any of the details of the trail.

The key is having time to intentionally reflect on your goals, needs, actions and decisions both before and after the trek, but for some this might mean having the majority of our sessions after vs. before the trek. If that’s the case, reach out so we can discuss the details.
